The routes cater for walkers of all ages and abilities, travelling across fields, footpaths and roads while visiting places of interest and villages in and around Wellingborough.

The base for the weekend is the Castle theatre and there will be a host of free entertainment provided during the three days.

The weekend event, organised by Wellingborough Council, will be launched with a friendship walk starting at 6.15pm on Friday, May 13.

Online entries are now being taken for the event, which attracts walkers from around the world.

Last year’s walk saw 5,000 people taking part in the only International Marching League event in the UK.

The event takes months of planning and volunteers play an important role in making sure the event runs smoothly.

They help with a range of tasks, including checking the routes and offering first aid during the weekend.

Dogs are welcome to take part in any of the walking events during the weekend, and drinking points are provided for dogs at control points along the routes.
