MAJOR fashion store Primark is opening in Corby – giving a huge boost to the new Willow Place shopping centre and the town.
A deal has been signed and the store will open in September.
It will pave the way for the second phase of Corby town centre's transformation.
Primark will sit alongside TK Maxx, New Look, Burton and River Island.
It is famous for selling fashionable clothing at budget prices and was voted Best Value High Street Fashion store by GMTV viewers last year.
Mark Rymell, development manager for Land Securities, the town centre owners, said: "We are delighted to have secured such a popular retailer.
"Primark will be a great addition to the town centre and significantly enhance Corby's attractiveness as a retail destination."
The company's marketing manager Danielle Charles added: "For Corby to have secured Primark, we pulled out all the stops. It appeals across the board. It's a class-less retailer."
Shopper Emma Boulton Roe, 27, of Eastbourne Avenue, said: "The shopaholic in me is pleased.
"The Corby store will do well because of Primark's cheap essentials which you can mix and match with.
"There should be a lot more variety and a lot more choice."
The second phase of Willow Place will include 20 additional shops and a large department store.
Business leaders from other towns welcomed the addition to Corby town centre.
Manager of the Newlands Centre in Kettering Neil Griffin said: "Primark is a great name to have in the town. We hope Kettering Council will be looking for retailers that can match Primark."
Rushden Chamber of Trade Chairman John Wills said: "We are probably too far away from Corby for it to have any major impact on Rushden.
"It's nice to see that investment going on in Corby. It's long overdue."
There was no one available at Primark to comment.
