Thieves broke in through the roof at the Age UK charity shop in Stamford Road, Kettering, in the early hours of Saturday morning.

After discovering the break-in, staff were unable to open at all on Saturday due to the mess caused but they managed to get someone in to repair the damage before opening an hour later than usual today (Monday).

Manager Kathleen Johnson said: “This is the third time since September.

“There’s only two members of staff that are paid staff and everyone else is volunteers.

“We are all gutted.”

A spokesman for Northamptonshire Police said the burglary was reported to them at 9am on Saturday.

They said the offenders got in through the roof and stole a safe.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident and anyone with information about the break-in is asked to call officers on 101.
