Big plans for Corby secondary school extension
The Corby Technical School plans include 17 new classrooms, seven new ICT suites, an open study area, activity and drama studios, a dining room extension, a changing room, two work rooms, two music practice rooms, a control room, four offices, toilets and storage.
The school has been hugely successful since first opening its doors in 2012. As part of the Brooke Weston stable, it was a pioneer of the Government’s free school programme.

It was announced earlier this month that the school would be expanding to cater for the town’s expanding population.
And now plans have been submitted to Corby Borough Council that show the blueprints for the building that will allow the school to increase the number of pupils from 375 to 825.
Drawn up by local firm GSS Architecture the plans show a two-storey wing that will sit on the side of the existing building and will be similarly-clad.

Hide AdA design and access statement submitted to planners says: “The outcome of the proposal will be a six form entry facility providing a high-quality education service in line with the Corby Technical School (CTS) and Brooke
Weston Trust (BWT) vision, mission and ethos.
“The design offers spaces for teaching a wide range of subjects and courses in a professional environment, offering staff and students a rewarding and exciting place to work and learn. Part of the CTS and BWT vision is to be at the heart of the Corby community working with locally-based leading technology companies and manufactures.
“Also forming part of the application is an expansion of the car park from 39 to 82 car parking spaces to accommodate the increase in staff and pupil traffic.
“Identified on the drawings is an allocated area for a possible future multi-use games area which does not form part of this application.”
