May 6, 2010 Louise Mensch defeats Phil Hope to become the MP for Corby and East Northamptonshire.

May 28, 2010 Holds her first surgery and said: “My surgeries will be 50 per cent in Corby, and 50 per cent in East Northamptonshire towns on a rotating basis. Corby has to be at the centre of it because it is by far the biggest town in the seat.”

June 10, 2010 Makes her maiden speech in the House of Commons and pays tribute to the work and kindness of her predecessor, Phil Hope.

January 13, 2011 Writes an open letter to Pat Fawcett, leader of Corby Council, calling on her to explain the council’s delay in providing the MP’s office they offered on her election.

July 2011 Praises Rupert Murdoch for his courage as he stays to face questions about the phone hacking scandal from the members of the Culture, Media and Sports Select Committee, of which she was a member, after being hit in the face with a plate of shaving foam.

May 2011 Appears on BBC Two’s Question Time, chaired by David Dimbleby

June 2011 Marries Peter Mensch, manager of Metallica

March, 2012 Calls for a report into the overspend at the Cube to be made public after suggestions the town’s civic hub could be more than £20m over budget, at least twice the £10m figure reported.

In a question to Mr Cameron at Prime Minister’s Question Time, Mrs Mensch said: “Labour-controlled Corby Council is trying to suppress a report into the scandal at the Corby Cube. £20m of Corby people’s money has been wasted and now councillors are being threatened with disciplinary action if they blow the whistle. Does the Prime Minister agree the council should come clean with Corby people?”

Mr Cameron replied: “I absolutely agree with the Honourable Lady and she raises an important point.”

June 2012 Learned the art of fast food cookery when she dropped into McDonald’s. She visited the restaurant in Corporation Street, Corby, to find out how it is providing employment and training opportunities for young people in the town. During her visit she tried her hand at cooking, making a filet-o-fish.

June 2012 Speaks about of her terrifying ordeal after threats were made against her children by internet troll Frank Zimmerman. Zimmerman, 60, was given a 26-week prison sentence suspended for two years for sending an offensive email to Mrs Mensch. She said: “It was terrifying and I felt helpless. When you receive a threat like that you don’t know whether it is coming from an agoraphobic like Zimmerman, or someone with a gun. You have to take every threat seriously.”

June 2012 Unveils menshn, a new social networking website she has co-founded with Luke Bozier, who previously worked for Tony Blair. The new social network - pronounced ‘mention’ - is formed around the simple idea of “talk, on topic”.

July 2012 Former tabloid editor Piers Morgan demands an apology from Louise Mensch after she accused him of phone hacking. The broadcaster and former Daily Mirror editor vigorously denies the claim, made during the Culture Select Committee hearing. But she said: “I am entirely content with my performance. I won’t be bullied and I learned very early you have to be thick-skinned in this job.”

Mr Morgan went on to say he had never hacked a phone or instructed anyone else to do so, nor had he published stories based on information from phone hacking.
