A stolen car was used by three masked men to steal a cash machine after a ram raid at Towcester Racecourse.

The thieves forced the double doors to the Empress Stand building and drove the car inside, beneath the grandstand.

The car was then used to ram a standalone ATM, causing extensive damage to the wall, doors and flooring.

The offenders, wearing hoods and face coverings, then abandoned the stolen car and pushed the ATM out of the building and on to a getaway vehicle.

The ATM is believed to have had less than £1,000 cash inside.

The car used for the ram raid, which happened in the early hours of Thursday, November 12, was stolen just after 11pm on Wednesday, November 11, from Whittlebury Road, in the village of Silverstone.

It was a black Ford Orion.

The getaway car is thought to be a white Seat Ibiza or similar car.
