Thousands of people lined the streets of Wellingborough as the Olympic torch made its way through the town.

The rain failed to dampen anyone’s spirits as the torchbearers ran or walked through the streets with lots of people standing by cheering them on.

Eddy Gray, 28, of Kimbolton Road, Higham Ferrers, said: “It was good.

“I was surprised to see all the procession, I thought it would just be torchbearers running with the torch.

“It was good, it was nice to see the coach with the torchbearers on it go by and all the music.”

Sandra Limmage, of The Hedges, Rushden, said: “I was up at the Dog and Duck to see the torch.

“It’s good that it brought so many people into town.
