About 5,000 people attended the Northamptonshire police Force open day today (Saturday, September 9)

The event took place at Force Headquarters, Wootton Hall Park, Northampton. Live attractions included an armed response vehicle and dogs demonstration, petrol bombing demonstration, off-road motorbike demonstration, taser demonstration, emergency response scenario, mock trial scenario, force control room demonstration and collision investigation team scenario.

Event organiser Chief Inspector Nick Lyall said: “We had a massive turn-out – the car park was almost full to capacity within 45 minutes.

“There was lots going on and the helicopter was really well received. People were really pleased to see it and children always love sitting in it.

“It’s a really good day for people to understand what policing is all about.

“There was not one part of the force which was not represented at the event. We has 220 staff working who all gave up their free time to work.”
