Ditch your preconceptions about the Women’s Institute. It’s not what you think!
When Sue Foster started Stanwick WI four years ago, she realised the WI is whatever you make it – and what she made was a vibrant, fun and caring group which has gone from strength to strength, now in the capable hands of Jean Mole.
In addition to the meetings which are held at Stanwick Village Hall on the second Friday of every month at 7.30pm, there is a supper club and sewing group which makes dresses for Dress A Girl Around The World.
Women of all ages have enjoyed a variety of programmes such as hoolahooping, bee-keeping, chocolatiers, singing and painting.
Ben Frazer, a former contestant on The GreatBritish Bake Off, has been such a success we have booked him for a third time in March 2015.
We have held fashion shows and outings and the most recent of these was to Bletchley Park. There is also an annual treat for our members, last year it was a free Italian dessert evening and this year it is modelling icing Easter bunnies with Ben Frazer. During August there is always a special treat as there is no official meeting. For 2015 we are planning a wine-tasting evening and a barbecue.
Everyone is welcome. Visitors pay £4, but your first visit is free, so check out the website for more information – www.StanwickWI.co.uk.
