A 76-year-old woman was duped by thieves who stole her cash and a gold watch.
The distraction burglary happened in Shakespeare Way, Corby, on Monday, between 3.30pm and 4.15pm.
A man knocked on the door of the woman’s house and claimed to be working on a neighbour’s fence.
He said he needed to inspect her fence and she took him out into the garden but the woman became suspicious and asked the man to leave.
She later realised that cash and a gold watch had been stolen from her property.
The victim said two men came to her door and that they both had foreign accents.
They were driving a white van with black writing on it and one was wearing bright blue ear muffs.
Police would like to speak to anyone who saw the incident.
They can be contacted by calling 101, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111
