Thieves stole cash and stock from a charity shop in Kettering after breaking in through the roof.

The Extra Care store in Gold Street was broken into some time between 5pm on Tuesday, October 20, and 8am the following morning.

After forcing entry, the thieves used a crowbar to enter the safe and stole £450 in cash and £100 worth of new stock.

They also kicked a hole through plasterboard, leaving shop manager Vanessa Camara angry.

She said: “I think they were targeting the jewellers next door as they tried to get through the plasterboard, but they didn’t.

“It makes me really angry that someone could steal from a charity shop and cause so much damage.

“We do our best to help people with physical and mental disabilities and are a national charity and I can’t believe we’ve been targeted.”

Police would like to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time who may have seen anything suspicious.

Anyone with information should contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
