People aged from seven to 107 are invited to audition to be part of the return of Wellingborough’s community show.

The community show used to be a regular feature in the calendar at The Castle theatre, but it has not been staged for a number of years now.

Gary Johnson, who runs GLJ Theatre at Glamis Hall in the town, has fond memories of the show and decided it was time to bring it back so he is now looking for people to audition and be part of it.

He said: “We are looking for everyone from the community to come along and get involved with the show.

“We hope it will be something that local people can be proud about in years to come.”

The show will be Paul Boyd’s Alice The Musical, which tells the story of Wonderland and Alice’s adventures.

All Alice wants to do is find her way home, but she meets numerous characters along the way, including the Mad Hatter, Tweedle Dee and Dum, and the Queen of Hearts.

Gary said: “It will bring the community back together.

“We are looking for singers, actors and dancers, and it can be anyone from seven to 107.

“It’s a great script by Paul Boyd with parts for everyone, it’s the West End coming to Wellingborough.

“There will be the leads, but if someone is looking for a small role, there will be those too.

“It is open to everyone and we are looking for about 30 people.”
Gary said they are also going to need help behind the scenes, including with the lights and the technical side of the production, so he would love to hear from anyone interested in helping out.

Gary is very excited about the show, and added: “It’s just going to be a lot of fun and by the end we are going to have a really good project.”

The auditions are taking place at 6pm on Monday (December 19) at Glamis Hall in Wellingborough, with the two-night show due to take place in the summer.
