The owners of The Ritz in Desborough can keep the building’s famous name.

In December last year businessman Kris Malde, who bought the venue and spent £1m giving it a facelift, received a letter from lawyers representing Ellerman Investments Ltd, owners of the plush Piccadilly venue in a dispute over the trademark name.

Now all the parties have reached an agreement.

The company is changing its name to Banquet and Conference Suites at Kettering but The Ritz sign will stay over the door of the venue in Station Road, Desborough.

The website’s name has also been changed to www.ketteringvenues.co.uk.

Mr Malde said: “I am very pleased that The Ritz sign will stay on the building and that we have reached an agreement.

“It’s a happy outcome and now I can get on with running the business.”

On Wednesday, February 27, a charity wedding fair is being held at the venue, starting at 7.30pm. There will more than 30 exhibitors and a fashion show and proceeds from the event will go to the Crazy Hats breast cancer charity. Tickets are £5.
