The new Tesco store in Corby is donating £500 each to Lakelands Hospice and the town’s air cadets.

Store manager George King will hand over the donations during the opening ceremony on Thursday (January 24) which will be attended by Corby MP Andy Sawford and town mayor Mohammed Rahman.

Lakelands will use the funds for its Hospice at Home service and Corby Air Cadets will use the donation towards the cost of a new flight simulator to enable the cadets to gain flying experience.

Mr King said: “We are all looking forward to opening day and are delighted to welcome the mayor of Corby and Mr Sawford to our launch. Being able to provide two great local causes with a £500 donation is also fantastic and we are looking forward to meeting them too.”

Refreshments including cake, champagne and orange juice will be served to customers at the store, off Oakley Road, from 10am.

The store will open from 8am on Thursday.
