A 14-year-old boy escaped with minor injuries after falling 10 metres down a disused quarry.

Fire crews were called to the accident at the quarry, off Kenmuir Road, in Finedon.

They attended the scene at about 8.30pm and pulled the teenager to safety on a stretcher.

A Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue spokesman said: “We were called to reports of a child falling from a tree into the quarry.

“The youth was removed from the face of the quarry and taken by land ambulance to hospital with slight injuries.”
