THE team behind the Rushden Lakes development presented its plans to Wellingborough councillors.
John McCarthy and Gavin Stollar of LXB Retail Properties and David O’Neil from Nortoft who is part of the project team presented the plans to Wellingborough Council’s development committee at a meeting on Tuesday.
The £50m development is set to create more than 1,500 jobs.
The plan features 20 shops, a garden centre, a visitor centre, a hotel, restaurants and a boat house. A planning application has been put in to East Northamptonshire Council and Wellingborough Council’s planning committee will put forward its view as a consultee on the application at a meeting next month.
At the meeting this week Mr McCarthy, LXB development director, said the firm was “excited” about the development, which it felt was “unique”.
He said the firm had a commitment to fund a bus service and it was looking to extend the 45 service, which runs from Irthlingborough to Finedon and Wellingborough, to enable people from the Wellingborough area to get to Rushden Lakes.
