A teacher is planning a marathon effort to raise money for good causes.

Teacher Chris Cope, from Montsaye Academy, Rothwell, is running the Silverstone Half Marathon on Sunday in support of Kidney Research UK.

Chris of Mawsley was just two-years-old when he was involved in a serious road accident which resulted in the loss of one of his kidneys.

The day of the half marathon is near the 41st anniversary of when he had his kidney removed.

He said: “Kidney Research UK is a cause close to my heart.

“I am reminded every day of how lucky I am to be able to live healthily with only one kidney for the past 41 years.”
