Work is ongoing to attract retailers to the £50m Rushden Lakes development.
LXB, the company behind the major retail and leisure site just off the A45 at Skew Bridge, has said it expects to announce some ‘significant pre-lettings’ in the next few months.
A report published by the developer carries a statement by the chairman, Phil Wrigley, which says: “We deliberately chose to delay the start of the Rushden Lakes lettings campaign while we refined our thoughts on how to maximise the potential of the lakes and woodlands to enable us to create an all-day destination.
“We are currently reconfiguring the layout to increase the restaurant offer and are working with a number of leisure operators to make this a reality.
“At the present time, we have signed just two pre-lets with occupiers but full lettings discussions are now in progress and we are seeing considerable interest from retailers, including many who would not normally trade in retail parks.
“Rushden Lakes is showing that there is still strong demand for high quality, well configured and located stores and we expect to announce several significant pre-lettings in the next few months.”
The report also said securing planning permission in June last year had led to ‘significant interest’ from potential occupiers and it stated: “Rushden Lakes has the potential to be one of the UK’s foremost retail and leisure destinations.”
