Talented duo’s awards success

A creative duo are celebrating after their businesses were nominated for prestigious industry awards.

Lindsay and Tony Watts, of Kettering, were nominated in different categories for both their businesses in awards run by notonthehighstreet.com, a website that stocks niche gifts.

At the awards ceremony which took place in London on Thursday, June 22, Mr Watts won first prize in Handmade Product of the Year for his oak trivet, beating off hundreds of competitors.

He runs his own furniture business, SquarePear Furniture, from home.

Mrs Watts, who runs her own design and textiles business, Evajeanie, scooped third prize in the competition for the Best Presented Storefront category. The couple spent the day at the awards event in Syon Gardens in London, and were treated to workshops before the announcements.

Mrs Watts said: “It was lovely to be nominated, and I was really, really pleased Tony won.

“I thought he might win as it’s such a great product.

“Hopefully the awards will give our businesses exposure.”
