Take water from flooded rivers

The Anglian Water hosepipe ban and start of the cricket season was the signal for the heavens to open and the rivers to swell and flood warnings to be issued.

I did hear via the news that prior to the downpours Anglia Water had permission to take water from the rivers to help fill the depleted reservoirs and was wondering with the high levels of water in our rivers if they were taking advantage and transferring the abundance of water which also would surely help reduce river levels and may lower the risk of flooding.

What I and many other residents do not want to hear later this summer during a very hot spell (wishful thinking) is bleating from Anglian Water that the supply of water is at an all time low after they ignored the vital overflowing resource flowing fastly past them this spring.
