Thursday, December 6

Friends of Finedon Library are holding a coffee morning at Walkers Way Community Room on Thursday, December 6th 10-11:30am. All are welcome.

Karol-oke at Kettering Market Place will be held on Thursday, December 6th.

Christmas Anthology at Little Harrowden Church on Thursday, December 6th at 7:30pm. Take along your favourite Christmas reading.

Ooaps! (Orlingbury’s group for the over 60s) will be holding a Christmas lunch on Thursday, December 6th at Isham Cricket club at 12:30pm. To reserve a place call Gillian on 01933 401340. Please let the organisers know if you have any dietary requirements or need transport.

St Andrews Arts Centre at St Andrews Church, Rockingham Road, Kettering are holding a community Christmas fair on Thursday 6th December from 6pm-9pm. Admission is free.

Cransley Hospice festival celebration at Wellingborough Golf Club on Thursday 6th December, 7pm for 7.30 start. 2 course winter fayre, music, entertainment, quiz and raffle. Tickets cost £19.50 from the fundraising office on 01536 527407.

The Friends of Raunds Library are building a Santa’s Grotto in the newly decorated children’s corner in the library. The grotto opens on Thursday 7th December between 11:30am and 12:30p and runs at different times through to 9th December.

Friday, December 7

Burton Latimer’s Christmas Lights switch-on will take place in the town centre in the early evening of Friday, December 7th, with the switch-on taking place at 7pm. Finedon Trefoil Guild will be doing their Annual Carol singing at the Gladstone Club, The Bell Inn, and the Conservative Club on Friday, December 7th. They are raising money to provide Cransley Hospice with tilting bed tables.

The Mayflower Singers will be hosting their Christmas Concert at St Mary the Virgin Church, Weekley on Friday, December 7th at 7:30pm. Entrance is £4 which includes refreshments. All proceeds to the Church Fabric Funds.

Aladdin will be presentd by the Looking Glass Theatre Company at Brigstock Village Hall on Friday, December 7th at 7:30pm. Candlelight Carols will be held in the Wesleyan Chapel, Isham on Friday, December 7th at 7pm. This will be followed by a Christmas Sale and refreshments in the schoolroom.

The latest surgery held by the Kettering town safer community team will take place on Friday, December 7, at the Sainsbury’s supermarket on Rockingham Road between 4pm and 5.30pm. Officers will be on hand to give out crime prevention advice as well as discussing any concerns people may have.

Saturday, December 8

Geddington School is holding a Christmas Fayre on Saturday 8th December between 11am and 2pm.There will be Santa’s Grotto, stalls, refreshments and a raffle.

Saturday December 8th Grendon Christmas tree festival and a taste of Christmas around the world in St Marys.

Weldon Christmas concert on Saturday 8th December from 7pm to 9.30pm.

The concert will feature performances from The String of Pearls Choir, Weldon Youth Club and Katrina’s School of Dance. Tickets are £4 for adults £2 for Children and this price includes refreshments and mince pies.

Tickets will be available from the Computer Shop on the High Street. Profits from the evening will go to the Air Ambulance and Weldon Youth Club.

Christmas tree festival and a taste of Christmas around the world at St Mary’s Church in Grendon on Saturday, December 7th.

Festive event at the Rushden transport museum taking place on Saturday 8th December and Sunday 9th. Youngsters will recieve a present and ride on a train, the first train will leave the station at 11:45am and the final journey will be at 3:30pm. Attendance must be booked by 2nd December at the transport museum on November 30th or at the Rushden Christmas fair on Saturday 1st December in Rushden High Street.

Sunday, December 9

A Christingle Service for all the family will be held at 3pm on Sunday, December 9, in St Mary’s Church, Higham Ferrers.

A carol concert is being held at St Michael’s Church – the Church in the Park – in Great Oakley, on Sunday, December 9, at 6pm. Kettering Camerata will be singing carols old and new, including music by Carter, Pierpoint, Rutter, Tchaikovsky, and Willcocks. A jazz, swing and rock-n-roll night is set to take place at The Courtyard Hotel, Stanwick, from 7pm - 11pm on Sunday 9th December.

Gretton silver band will be entertaining the residents of Gretton on Sunday 9th December afternoon. The band will maintain its standing tradition of touring the village playing carols and a selection of Christmas music.

Monday, December 10

Finedon Trefoil Guild will are holding a coffee morning at the Conservative Club on Monday, December 10th, 10-11:30 in aid of Cransley Hospice.

Former pupil of Wrenn School in Wellingborough, Kate Smith, will begin her exhibition of hand-made and individually designed homeware and furnishings at the school on 10th December. The exhibition will run until 21st December from 3pm until 4.30pm each day.

Members of Higham Ferrers Women’s Institute will be holding their Christmas party on Monday 10th December at 2:15pm. This will be held at the Adult School on Westfield Terrace. Visitors are welcome as always, details can be found out from Olga Earl on 01933 625522.

Tuesday, December 11

A craft afternoon will be held at Great Doddington Chapel on Tuesday, December 11th from 2pm-4pm.

Irchester WI will be having their Christmas Party on Tuesday, December 11th at 7:15pm.

Wednesday, December 12

Christmas will be the theme of the W.I meeting in Hargrave on Wednesday 12th December at 7:30pm, this meeting has a fee of £3 for non members.

Over 60s Christmas lunch will take place in Riseley village hall on Wednesday 12th December. This includeds entertainment and a visit from Santa.

Thursday, December 13

Henry Chichele Christmas Carol service in St Mary’s Church, Higham Ferrers on Thursday, December 13th at 6:30pm.

The Mission Band Concert will be held at Rushden Mission Church on Thursday, December 13th.

On Thursday 13th December a seasonal celebration of Charles Dickens’ bicentenary with a local actor, James Hornsby, performing his one man play based on A Christmas Carol. This takes place at Kettering Library at 7.30pm.
