There will be new cuisine on offer at Kettering’s market today as a Taco Truck comes to town.

Shaun Sedani, 24, will take his Sonora Tacos Mexican street food stall to the streets after falling in love with the cuisine while on holiday.

Mr Sedani, who lives in Burton Latimer, says he was inspired to start his own business when he was living in Canada.

He said: “I lived there on a gap year and every street corner had a food stall.

“It was the best food around, better than any of the restaurants.

“I came home and couldn’t find any jobs that would have made me happy and thought, “you know what, I’m going to start my own business’.

“I worked at Kettering Park Hotel for a bit and met some great chefs.

“I went to Mexico on holiday and absolutely fell in love with the food, it’s so fresh.

“I’ve had lots of meetings with banks trying to fund it all but I’m ready to go.”

Mr Sedani will served Mexican food at the market on most Fridays and Saturdays with the assistance of a sous chef.

He makes everything from his kitchen at home from fresh and will serve up tacos, quesadillas and tortas.

Fillings include the likes of pork with pineapple, chipotle chicken and chicken and chorizo, with vegetarian and vegan options also available.

Mr Sedani added: “We don’t have a microwave, we don’t have a freezer, we don’t have a deep fat fryer.

“Everything we make is fresh.

“Not only is it fresh but it’s healthy as well.

“I’m starting out at the market and we’re also doing some events, such as Cranfest.”

The truck will also sell chocolate tacos and chocolate and chilli cookies.

Any leftover food will be donated to a local homeless charity.

The name Sonora comes from the Mexican state of Sonora.

Mr Sedani said he chose the name because it was the heartland of the Mexican revolution and for their style of cooking – ‘Mochomos’.
