Four Territorial Army units are opening their doors to prospective new recruits in a move to showcase the employment opportunities with the TA.

The open evening at the TA centre in Clare Street, Northampton, at 6.30pm on Wednesday (March 20) is part of an extensive recruitment campaign, TA LIVE, to promote the organisation over the next 12 months through a range of activities and events where potential recruits can find out more about the TA and talk to TA soldiers.

To kickstart the new campaign, the Army launched attention-grabbing adverts broadcast live from operations in Afghanistan.

The adverts captured TA soldiers going about their everyday duties as Reservists in Afghanistan alongside their regular counterparts.

With each advert running for about one minute, the viewer was taken directly to the frontline witnessing first-hand how people with very similar lives to theirs are volunteering to serve their country as a fulfilling second career.

TA units and local communities from all over the country have been backing the campaign and taking part in more than 150 demonstrations and public events since the beginning of February at regional spots to show what the TA is all about.

A huge range of TA careers have also been represented across the country.

Chefs, drivers, medics, caterers, infantrymen, engineers, signallers and many more have come together to demonstrate there are more than 200 different roles available for people interested in joining the TA.

Colonel Kevin Halus said: “We think this is a great way to demonstrate and educate people in Northamptonshire about the opportunities available with the TA and its contribution to the defence and security of the nation.

“There has never been a better time to be a Territorial Army soldier and we have so much to offer potential candidates – an active lifestyle, the opportunity for travel and adventure, as well as first-class training and access to further skills and qualifications.

“No matter what your talents, you can get involved.”

The units looking to recruit at Wednesday’s event are 118 Recovery Company; C (Leicestershire and Northamptonshire) Company 3 R Anglian; B Squadron the Royal Yeomanry and 222 Medical Squadron, part of 225 Medical Regiment.
