A 100-year-old from Barton Seagrave has celebrated reaching three figures with a surprise party organised by her family.
Betty Grimshaw celebrated the milestone birthday on Friday last week alongside friends and family - including niece Irene, whom she had not seen for more than 20 years. She said: “It really was a lovely party. It was the biggest surprise of my life.”
She turned 100 on Monday, November 17, receiving a telegram from the Queen.
Betty moved from Glasgow to Kettering in the 1960s.
The great-grandmother says she has always tried to keep active – and even enjoyed a dance at the party.
Betty added: “I still do things around the house. People say to me I haven’t changed a bit.”
