Everyone was in good spirits when the sun came out for a family fun day in Corby.

Residents enjoyed a host of attractions at the event on Saturday (July 21), organised by Hazel Leys Neighbourhood Association.

Among the attractions were a barbecue, stalls selling plants, bric-a-brac, bags and soap, a display of birds of prey, a bouncy castle and sports and games.

A group of youngsters from the youth club which meets at Hazel Leys Community Centre put on a dancing display and Corby Radio, the police’s crime prevention unit and neighbourhood wardens and PCSOs were also at the fun day.

Anne Smith, secretary of the neighbourhood association, said: “Everyone had a great time and it was good to see the sunshine.”

Alison Gaffney, of Street Spirit Cheerleaders, said: “The girls from the youth club, aged from five to 10, have been practising for about three weeks on their dance routine and I think we have some stars in the making.”
