Rail users are facing two days of misery as train drivers prepare to strike over their pensions.

No East Midlands Trains services will be running from Corby today or Thursday.

Reduced services will be operating from Kettering and Wellingborough train stations.

The train firm blames industrial action by union Aslef but pledged as many services as possible will run for passengers.

A spokesman for East Midlands Trains advised passengers in Corby their tickets would be valid for the X4 Stagecoach bus service from the station to Kettering town centre.

The spokesman said: “We are trying to provide the best service as we can with limited resources.

“We would advise people to check before they travel and to see information on our website if they have a ticket and decide they don’t want to travel any more.”

An hourly service will be operating from both Kettering and Wellingborough Stations.

A spokesman for Aslef said: “In essence management want both members and staff at the company to put less money in to their pension fund. If that happens our concern is obviously if you put less money in to it the pension scheme is worth less.”
