A vintage steam train will pass through Gretton and over Harringworth Viaduct this summer.

‘Vintage Trains’ are running two return journeys from Melton Mowbray to Corby on August 12, with lunch and tea available.

Upon arrival at Corby, the train will reverse over the viaduct, arriving back at Melton.

The trains will also pause on the viaduct to allow passengers to admire the magnificent views of the Welland Valley.

For those wishing to catch a glimpse, there will be four opportunities to view the trains passing through the village and crossing the viaduct - the longest masonry structure to cross a valley in the UK.

Anyone requiring further information should contact David Fursdon by email at david.fursdon@hotmail.com or calling 07790 197220.

Mr Fursdon said: “High numbers of passengers are expected to travel on the trains with crowds lining the route.

“Remember to stay safe, please do not trespass on the railway or private property.”
