Anyone thinking about starting their own business can get advice at an event taking place on Friday, January 25, at Northamptonshire County Council’s Central Library.

The Job Club Xtra business start-up event is free to attend and will bring together representatives from local banks, solicitors and business support organisations to offer free information and support to would-be entrepreneurs.

The event is part of the council’s programme of activities aimed at delivering job support and training through libraries.

Cabinet member for customers and communities Cllr Heather Smith said: “We are working to find ways to support people during these difficult financial times and libraries have an important role to play in this.

“This event will be a great chance for people to get the information they need when thinking about starting up their own business.

“There will be a variety of organisations on hand to offer advice and I hope that people take this opportunity to kick-start their new business venture.”

The business start-up event will take place from 10am to 1pm on January 25 at the Central Library in Abington Street, Northampton.

Anyone unable to attend the start-up event can also get information and advice at their local library.

The county council’s library service has teamed up with Northamptonshire Enterprise Partnership to offer drop-in sessions covering business basics as well as workshops on business planning, taxation and social media.

More information about these sessions are available at www.northamptonshire.gov.uk/libraryservice.

There are also plenty of books available offering advice to anyone considering starting a business, as well as online resources which can be accessed free of charge from the library or at home.

Further Job Club Xtra events will take place on May 25, July 26 and September 27.
