Police are warning drivers about thefts from unlocked vehicles following a spate in Higham Ferrers.
PCSO Kev Lumbis said: “Of 46 reported incidents in the town since the start of the year, 31 were from cars which had not been locked.
“We are asking people to double check their cars have been secured and not to assume that cars will automatically lock themselves after a couple of minutes, as many models don’t.
“Also make sure you remove items such as sat navs, mobile phones, laptops and other valuables as these tempt thieves to break and enter.”
Anyone witnessing any suspicious activity, or anyone with information about the thefts from cars, can call police on 101 or information can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
