Fundraisers are being asked to banish the winter blues and sign up for a desert challenge.

Lakelands Hospice, in Corby, is inviting people to take part in a Sahara Trek in March next year.

The challenge will include three days trekking in the desert and a couple of assisting with a Marrakech community project.

Rochelle Alexander who works at RS Components, Corby, and is the first person to sign up for the trek, said: “I completed a skydive for Lakelands in 2011 but wanted to push myself even further and take on a longer challenge.”

To launch her fundraising for the trip Rochelle is holding a charity night at the KK Club, Corby, on Friday, April 26, including music, bingo, quizzes and a charity raffle. For tickets call 01536 747755.

Lakelands community fundraiser Paul Marlow said: This is a marvelous opportunity to make a difference both locally and overseas.”
