Work is under way on improvements to the recycling centre in Rushden.
Northamptonshire County Council says the changes will make it easier to use and reduce traffic congestion at the site.
The centre will be closed until early this summer 2014 while the work takes place.
The Rushden centre is one of the best used of the county council’s 10 recycling sites with about a quarter of a million visits to the site in 2012/13.
The refurbishments will see the introduction of new recycling bays, an additional traffic lane and an express recycling lane so small items can be dropped off quickly.
