This year’s Children in Need fundraising spectacular brought in more than £31m on Friday night.

The BBC’s annual telethon, which featured Doctor Who, JLS and the EastEnders cast among this year’s highlights, beat last year’s record total.

Fundraising events which took place in the north of the county included a children’s choir forming part of a national choir at Wicksteed Park in Kettering, a 33-hour non-stop musicathon at the Kingfisher in Wellingborough, onesie funsie at Sarah’s Hair and Beauty in Corby, Lisa Mitchell, Anna Rice and Melanie-Jane Perkins giving away raisins sponsored by Whitworths in Irthlingborough, and a pyjamas and tutus day at Pure Crafters and Craft Supplies, Finedon.
