Staff, volunteers and supporters of the Daylight Centre in Wellingborough are preparing to spend a night under the stars to raise money for the charity.
The Big Sleep Out 2015 is taking place on Friday, January 30, to raise awareness of the ever-increasing number of people who sleep rough on the streets.
The Daylight Centre Fellowship and Northampton Hope Centre are two county charities which provide support services in the community to help those who are sleeping rough back into secure accommodation and a safer way of life.
They have teamed up for the fundraiser at Christ Church in Northampton to raise awareness and also raise money to keep the Daylight Centre in Wellingborough High Street running on a day-to-day basis.
Sarah Lee, who works at the Daylight Centre and will be bedding down for a night under the stars, said: “I am quite nervous, but I’m also excited.
“I work with people on a one-to-one basis so for me to get more of an insight into what they go through will be fantastic. I have been getting lots of tips from our homeless people, which is quite positive.”
Sarah has set herself the target of raising £5,000, but admitted that she was setting the bar high.
