A business has been looking at ways to improve road safety awareness.
Waste company Mick George promoted the ‘Never Skip the Seatbelt’ campaign in September and has now expanded its campaign to cover more aspects of road safety, including considerate parking around schools, speeding awareness for drivers and visibility awareness for pedestrians. Schoolchildren at more than 40 Northamptonshire schools are also taking part in the firm’s Skip to School Safely art competition.
To bring the competition to life, memorable slogans have been specially produced and applied to Mick George Skips, which have been placed at prominent points around the county for maximum effect.
As we head into the longer, darker nights of the winter, pedestrians and drivers will be asked to Slow Down - See More, Be Aware - Park with Care and most of all to Be Seen - Be Safe.
“With 3,000 skips in service, our large fleet of lorries travel the Northamptonshire roads all day, every day” said Jon Stump, finance director at Mick George Ltd. “Protecting the public on the road and keeping our drivers safe is vitally important and we are delighted to be working with Northamptonshire County Council’s Road Safety Team to help raise awareness in schools.”
Skip to School Safely is an initiative between Mick George Limited and Northamptonshire County Council Road Safety.
