A FIRM which has helped people around the world lose weight has won a Queen’s award for its outstanding achievements.
Corby-based Cambridge Manufacturing Co Ltd, the makers of Cambridge Weight Plan, has won a Queen’s Award for its growth in export sales.
The firm based in Hunters Road has increased overseas growth by around 120 per cent since 2008.
It employs 177 people and currently exports to more than 25 countries worldwide.
The low-calorie weight management programme it produces has helped 25 million people lose weight, and advocates include celebrity Lauren Goodger of The Only Way is Essex.
The firm is now entitled to use the Queen’s Award emblem in its marketing for five years, and will be invited to a reception at Buckingham Palace later this year.
Managing director Eileen Skinner said: “We are so excited and so proud. It is fantastic for all the employees. It is about everything that happens in the company, which is why we say everyone has contributed, whatever their job.
“You have to be able to demonstrate an increase in export growth sales over a three-year period. If you’ve not grown by 50 per cent you wouldn’t be considered – but we have grown by 119 per cent.
“One of the things the award does recognise is social responsibility. What we do benefits society.”
Marketing communications director Christopher McDermott said: “It is really good for the employees because it is a physical manifestation of our success.”
