A Wellingborough shopkeeper has been fined for selling alcohol to a person under 18.
Nhamoinesu Mashongamhende, the designated premises supervisor at the Ramco store in Northampton Road, Wellingborough, also surrendered his licence.
He pleaded guilty to the offence following a test purchase operation which was carried out by the police last November.
The premises sold alcohol to a customer under the age of 18 and Mr Mashongamhende was fined £500 plus £85 costs.
All the premises visited during the test-purchasing operation were in areas of anti-social behaviour blighted by under-age drinking.
Sergeant Sharan Wildman, of Wellingborough Town Safer Community Team, said: “The message is simple – where we receive information that this sort of activity is taking place, we will seek to gain the necessary evidence to support criminal charges.
“Together with our partners, we are looking to use our police powers to combat alcohol-related crime and disorder more effectively and extensively.
“If anyone has information about premises selling alcohol to minors – or anyone drinking in public and behaving anti-socially – they should contact their local safer community team on 101.”
