A chip shop is supporting charity by donating money from every portion of chips it sells.

Blue Atlantic in Doddington Road, Wellingborough, is giving 10p to the Alzheimer’s Society for every portion of chips customers buy until Saturday, February 28.

Karen Mann and her husband Louis took over the shop in December 2012 and have completely refurbished it.

Karen said: “It is the first time we have done something like this.

“A member of Louis’ family has Alzheimer’s and we have a lot of elderly customers so we thought it would be a good charity to support.

“People have been coming in and saying it is a good idea and putting money in our collection box on the counter.

“We don’t know how much we will raise but hope it will be about £200. At first we thought about donating 5p per portion of chips but we increased it to 10p to raise more money.”

Karen and Louis are also running a lucky draw which ends on Saturday. They have 20 prizes to give away including four cod and chips suppers for two people and six sausage and chips suppers.
