The classes are taking place at the Victoria Centre in Palk Road and there has already been lots of interest with dozens of places booked.

Shiny Arts has been launched by Alexandra Snell, who used to work at The Castle theatre before it closed its doors temporarily this summer and she says was keen to find a way to continue offering theatre classes to youngsters in the area.

She said: “We are starting small, with four youth theatre classes and two musical theatre classes for young people aged four to 18-years, but already have around 70 places booked.

“All the parents were excited and pleased to hear their children could continue with a team they knew and trusted this autumn.

“I have taken on three of the previous theatre practitioners from The Castle, who could see the huge benefit of continuing the work we had built up so successfully as a team.

“We are also in discussion with other local partners to look at continuing projects such as the regional youth theatre festival we used to run annually at The Castle.”

Alexandra said the hope is that they can expand in the future with more classes and further projects with schools and community groups locally.
