Up to a dozen sheep have been killed after straying into the road between Desborough and Rothwell.

The flock of at least 20 sheep wandered into the road, the old A6 between the towns, last night (Tuesday, January 6).

And they were struck by a vehicle at about 11.30pm, a Northamptonshire Police spokesman has said.

Officers contacted the animals’ farmer and were at the scene until about 1am.

The driver was not reported to have been injured, but a breakdown truck was called to take the vehicle away.
