A child rapist had sex with another underage girl while on bail for his first crime, a court was told.

Jason Radford invited the 15-year-old to his house for sex just a few months after his arrest for raping another 15-year-old at a party, an offence he has since been convicted of.

Radford, who was sentenced to seven years for rape last July, had a further 18 months added to his prison term at Northampton Crown Court on Friday.

The 30-year-old, of Bonham Court, Kettering, admitted two counts of sexual activity with a child.

The court heard the first conviction related to a party in November 2009, when the victim, who had been asleep, woke to find Radford raping her.

She told him to stop, and he refused.

He was arrested and bailed for the offence in August 2010.

Then, some time in February or March 2011, he began messaging an underage girl on Facebook and invited her to his house, where they had sex.

The matter came to light when the victim went to the doctors, as she feared she may have been pregnant.

The clinic reported the matter to the police and Radford was arrested again in April 2011.

Andrew Copeland, prosecuting, said: “In interview, he was asked if he knew how old she was, and he said ‘yes, 14 or 15’.”

Beata Kopel, in mitigation, said: “He is somebody who has made a number of efforts to address his offending behaviour in custody.”

Judge Rupert Mayo said the new sentence was reduced on the principle of totality, due to the long sentence Radford is already serving.

Radford has been ordered to be on the sex offenders’ register for life.
