Severe disruption to journeys leaving Northampton station after a person is hit by a train

There are delays for passengers travelling north from Northampton station after a person was hit by a train earlier this morning.

There have been cancellations and delays throughout the morning on the line going from Northampton to Coventry after a person was hit by a train.

The person was hit by a train between Coventry and Rugby.

All lines have now reponed, although there are still major delays.

London Midland is advising passengers that the 13.25 train from Northampton to Birmingham New Street will be cancelled this afternoon.

The 11.25 was also cancelled going to Birmingham.

A statement on the London Midland website reads: “Virgin Trains services are conveying passengers via any reasonable route until further notice. Arrangements have been made for London Midland rail tickets to be accepted for these journeys.

“Rail Replacement Coach services are conveying passengers between Coventry and Northampton via Rugby and Long Buckby in both directions until further notice. Coaches will be in operation until 13.00.

“Chiltern Railways services are conveying passengers via any reasonable route until further notice.”
