A 20-year-old woman was sexually assaulted by two men after an event at Santa Pod Raceway.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the attack which took place in the early hours of Sunday, July 13.

She had been at the Dragstalgia event throughout Saturday, July 12, and had been in the bar area that night.

She left the bar with an acquaintance called Darren at about 1am and walked with him to the tent he was staying in.

After leaving the tent at about 1.30am, the victim was making her way off the site when she was grabbed by the hair and seriously assaulted by two white men.

Following the ordeal, the victim made her way to event security and the police were called.

The officer in charge of the investigation, Detective Inspector Jerry Waite, is particularly keen to locate ‘Darren’ who is believed to be from the Wellingborough area and who may hold valuable information about the attack.

DI Waite is also urging anyone who was at the Dragstalgia event and may have seen or heard anything suspicious to get in touch.

DI Waite said: “This was a terrifying and horrendous experience for this young lady to have to deal with and she has been left truly devastated by what happened.

“The victim has been very courageous and in supplying information about exactly what happened during her ordeal and she continues to receive support from her family and specialist officers at this time.

“The event at Santa Pod had about 4,000 attendees and it is highly likely that someone will have information about what happened.

“A number of people have already come forward but I really need to speak with Darren who was the last person to see the victim before she was attacked.

“If you are, or know who Darren from Wellingborough is, then please do get in touch with me or my officers.”

Anyone with information relating to this incident can contact DI Waite on 01582 473415 or call Bedfordshire Police on 101, or text information to 07786 200011.
