School pupils’ artistic efforts have been put to good use as they got creative to drive home an important message.

Youngsters at Hazel Leys Primary School took part in a Park Safe competition run by Corby Council staff and PCSO Sue Newman.

Headteacher Lorraine Norris said: “Parking is an issue around most schools and the children felt if they did a poster it might encourage the parents to park more safely and considerately.

“We are hoping it will be effective.”

Winner of the contest was Year 4 pupil Liam McIntyre, nine, whose poster design will be made into signs and displayed close to the school

Liam and the runners up, Jack McIntyre, seven, Holly Knight, 10, and Ryan Austin, nine, were awarded with gift vouchers.
