Gretton Primary School has two reasons to celebrate after its parent school association fundraising committee won a national award and it was recognised for being eco-friendly.

PTA-UK, the national body supporting parent teachers associations, awarded the school a Good Practice Gold Award for the overall running of the association and its financial management.

Headteacher Jane Dooley said: “We are so proud of the committee and the hard work it puts in to support the team here at Gretton Primary School.”

The fundraising team recently held a successful auction of promises.

This raised £5,000 for school funds.

Gretton Primary has also been awarded the Silver Eco Award for schools.

Eco co-ordinator Erica Calvert, who is helped by parent Sara Earl, said: “We reminded pupils and teachers to switch off lights and computers when not in use, had assemblies to spread the eco-word, and organised a toy and book exchange.”
