School plans to become an academy

Governors at a school in Corby have decided to turn the school into an academy.

Kingswood Primary School will become an academy sponsored by the Greenwood Dale Foundation Trust (GDFT).

Headteacher Wendy Gordon said: “Both staff and parents are fully on board with the proposal to become an academy. They know we have the best interests of the pupils at heart. Our standards have continued to improve and we plan to build on that even further when the school becomes an academy. I know that working with GDFT will secure a successful future for Kingswood Primary.”

GDFT will provide a range of services including finance, human resources, ICT, catering, health and safety, communications and marketing plus extended opportunities for pupils.

They hope the process will be complete by April 1, 2013.
