A school is in the final running of a competition to prepare a special menu for the Queen.

Latimer Arts College, in Castle Way, Barton Seagrave, is in the last 16 of the Cook for the Queen competition, with the top four schools will be invited down to Buckingham Palace in June to have their recipes served to Her Majesty herself.

The competition has been launched by Camilla Parker Bowles, the Duchess of Cornwall as a tribute to the Queen on her Diamond Jubilee.

The school has beaten off competition from almost 200 schools to secure a place in the finals.

The winners will be announced next week after being sampled by the Royal Chef, Mark Flanagan.
