A coach from the Northampton Saints has led training sessions at a Kettering school ahead of a regional tournament at Franklin’s Gardens.

Bishop Stopford School, the only one from Kettering which will travel to the home of the Saints next week for the competition, was visited by Ben Lawniczak last week.

The Elite Insurance Rugby 7s Series takes place on Wednesday, March 19.

Saints rugby coaches have offered three specialist training sessions to the Bishop Stopford team, specifically focusing on the sevens style of rugby in preparation for next week’s qualifying tournament.

The finals day is in April, following regional qualifiers for schools from Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, Suffolk, Oxfordshire and Northamptonshire.

A total of 45 schools entered the tournament from across the East of England region.
