A man charged with a murder in Rushden in late October will appear before a judge in late January to enter a plea.

Danney Beaumont, 26, from Maple Road in Rushden, faces an accusation of killing Steven Smith, 23, also from Rushden, by stabbing him on Saturday, October 25, at an address in Trafford Road, Rushden.

He appeared before magistrates in Wellingborough in late October and was remanded into custody.

Beaumont appeared at Birmingham Crown Court on Monday for an administrative hearing.

His case was put off until January 21 where he will enter a plea. That hearing is expected to take place at Northampton Crown Court.

A potential trial date has been pencilled for July 2015.

Beaumont was arrested early on Saturday after police were called to reports of a stabbing at a house in Trafford Road, Rushden.
