A Rushden mum whose son died of meningitis has been named as an ambassador for the Meningitis Research Foundation (MRF) during its national awareness week.

MRF ambassadors are members of the charity who have personal experience of the disease.

They have been asked to take on this role because they have the knowledge and skills to represent the organisation at the local and regional level.

Natalie Nel, mother of Jayden, said: “I am honoured to become an ambassador for MRF and have launched a petition in Rushden asking my MP to speak to the Government about ensuring the new vaccine for Men B is put into the Childhood Immunisation Schedule asap.”
