RS Components, which has a distribution centre in Corby, is axing 35 jobs from its UK workforce of 2,500.
The job losses are the result of restructuring and the company, which also has operations at Nuneaton and Oxford, as well as 16 trade counters, has not announced where the cuts will be made.
A spokesman for RS said a new global organisation structure has been created to enable the company to reach its goals.
The spokesman added: “Unfortunately this does mean that we are proposing a net reduction of around 35 job roles out of our workforce of around 2,500 in the UK. We are working through the consultation process and the final impact by location can only be confirmed as the consultation progresses.
“We are truly sorry to lose any of our people. We are the largest employer in Corby and take seriously the responsibility we have to the local community. We are working hard to minimise the impact on anyone displaced as a result of the proposed reorganisation.”
RS Components, which employs a workforce of 1,700 at its Birchington Road distribution centre, in Corby, is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year.
Earlier in the year it was picked to be one of two distributors of the Raspberry Pi, the £22 credit card-sized computer which took the technology world by storm.
